Please remember that vaccinations “should” stop YOU from having Covid, but you could still be a carrier if you have come in contact with someone who does.

We are thankful that our church has been able to remain open through this season of Covid 19,  and that the congregation has been doing their part to stop the spread of the virus by wearing masks and using hand sanitizer upon entering the building.  To continue to protect each other, please remember to sit at least 6 feet (in all directions) away from another family!  We don’t like to split up families between pews but in order to save space AND keep 6 feet away from another person/family, some may have to sit “together” by splitting between the “green” ends of two pews. There should be room for 3 adults and a child.  We appreciate it!  It’s what we have to do to try to keep others safe and use our space efficiently.

THANK YOU:

Pastor Sean and Diane DuBois for representing First Baptist at City Hall for National Day of Prayer.

SOMETHING NEW:

FBC Amsterdam will be holding services (Covid Style) at Nathan Littauer Hospital beginning on May 20, 2021. We are thankful that our Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities are beginning to open up. Please pray that “Sentinel” opens, soon.

COMING UP:

John Riedle will be having his ordination council on Saturday, May 15. A luncheon is being planned for those in attendance. If you can help, please see Lynette.  John will be presented as “ordained to vocation” (chaplain) to the congregation and a “cake” reception will be held after church on Sunday.

YOUTH GROUP NEWS:

A bonfire party is planned for Amsterdam RiSE to be held at Pastor’s residence.  Fun and Food rule at these parties!  Who would like to chaperone?

Thank you Lynette, Rosemary, Terry and Mindy for helping! If you are able to give children a ride to Youth Group (or Sunday School and Church) please let Pastor Sean or Pastor Bill know.

In the meantime, Peggy burned the popcorn last week so the kids had to have some frozen chocolate chip cookies for snack, compliments of Pastor Sean and a donation from the City Mission. No one complained except Peggy.  They will attempt popcorn again this week! Pray for nice weather so the kids and teens can go outside.

COFFEE (AND TEA) FELLOWSHIP

There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board if you care to provide pre-packaged snacks to have after church each Sunday.  If you don’t sign up, it could be crackers and coffee!

DIRECTORY:

Time is running out for additions and/or corrections to our directory.  Please fill out a card (table in the ‘overflow’ or shelf in the foyer) and give to Peggy Pitcher.

SPECIAL MUSIC:

From time to time, we like to enhance our Sunday Worship with special music. If you would like to add your voice to several others for Memorial Sunday, please stay after church for a few minutes the next few Sundays to rehearse “Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones.”  See our choir director, Lynette, for the music.

It was Hard to Say Good Bye    …  We are going to miss (David) Boone and his guitar; working the aging sound system; heading up youth group… His

quiet demeanor yet crazy ideas have been entertaining and thought provoking.

His Christ centered music has enriched our Sunday Worship.

We were happy to bring back our Coffee (and Tea) Fellowship

after the service today, in honor of David Boone and his service here at FBC.

Thank you to Rosemary and those who were responsible for the safely packed napkin /cutlery set

to go with the the lovely cake and beverages. David was quite pleased 🙂

Go with God, Boone, and be a blessing!
