The First Baptist Church of Amsterdam, New York held its second annual “Scoops of Blessings” ice cream social fundraiser on Friday, July 25 with ice cream and toppings donated by Stewart’s Shops. The $350 in net proceeds from the event were sent to The Fulton Montgomery Long Term Recovery Committee who assists victims of local disasters.
In his letter of appreciation (dated August 26, 2014) on behalf of the committee, John A. Nasso, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Fulton and Montgomery Counties shares the following:
On behalf of the Fulton Montgomery Long Term Recovery committee, thank you for your donation from the Ice Cream Social fundraiser to assist the families affected by the recent flooding in Ft. Plain.
The Committee was established to maintain a network within and on behalf of the faith communities and secular agencies to provide a coordinated recovery from disasters. Your donation will be used to assist families by helping them to purchase needed items and meet their basic needs such as housing and food. Although Catholic Charities maintains the funds raised by the committee, it is a subgroup of the committee that reviews requests and decides the best way to use the funds.
Again, thank you for your donation. Please know that it will be used in a prudent manner to assist the neediest families in our community.
